Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry that has helped to build over 500,000 decent, affordable houses and served 2.5 million people worldwide.  Through volunteer labor and donations of money and materials, Habitat builds and rehabilitates simple, decent houses alongside our homeowner partner families. In addition to a down payment and monthly mortgage payments, homeowners invest hundreds of hours of their own labor into building their Habitat house and the houses of others.

Last fall, Grace participated in a home build for Habitat for Humanity.  For those who missed it, we will be doing another one in 2012.  If interested, look for announcements here on the web, in our newsletter, or during services.

For those who can’t come out for a home build, here are other ways to support this wonderful organization:

  • Provide food and drinks for volunteer crews on group build days.
  • Suggest families for family selection and partnering efforts.
  • Volunteer for committees or at the ReStore, Habitat’s home improvement store, in St. Peters.
  • Help organize special homeowner workshops i.e., insurance, financial peace, landscaping, maintenance, health and wellness, etc.  Many recipients are first time homeowners.
